YOUNG OFFICE FOR INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES

1.-MEMBERS

The organisation is made up of 30 members. All of them are young people and there are more women than men. The majority are from 20 to 25 years old and very interested in the European construction

2.- AIMS

The aims of the Association are the followings:

• To handle the international activities as a global process
• To provide information about European activities
• To make young people aware of the reality of other countries
• To make mobility to other countries for young people possible.
• To develop some methods and services that promote intercultural and linguistic learning
• To promote the conscience of an European community.
• To consolidate the knowledge of other cultures and ways of life
• To promote the European values as a way to prevent racist and xenophobic attitudes
• To encourage the discussion and treatment of local problems (unemployment, racism, environment, social exclusion, etc …) with an open mind, making the exchange of knowledge and experiences between countries possible.

3.- ACTIVITIES THAT ARE ALREADY TAKING PLACE

This Association is responsible for the management of the Young Office for International Activities in the local Council. Our activities are being developed since 2000
Consultancy:

-It has to be pointed up the long number of individual enquiries about different topics: jobs abroad, scholarships, training abroad and European programms.

-The more usual enquiry is the searching of jobs, specially in the following countries as the main destination: United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany or Italy.

-More than 600 young people visit us every year.

-The topics, the young can ask for some information about, are the followings:
Employment: temporary jobs agencies, requirement to can work in a country, trade unions, employment offices and more interesting adresses.

Studies: requirement to can study in a country, scholarships, universities, language courses and interesting adresses.

Accomodation: youth hostels, bed and breakfast, hostels, hotels.Cultural resources and for the free time, and touristic as well.

Youth organisations: adresses were we can contact with different youth organisations.

Informative sessions:
- These activities have the aim to inform about the different ways of searching for a:
Job,Scholarships or language courses, How to participate in European youth programmes
European Voluntary Service

-The topics of these informative sessions are four:

a) How to look for a job abroad.
b) How to look for a scholarship or language courses.
c) How to participate in a young communitary programm.
d) European Voluntary Service.

-These informative sessions take place in the youth centre, secondary schools and universities
Training courses:
-For the last few years we have organized training courses about the different possibilities to go abroad.
-The courses usually last 20 hours and more than 30 young people are enrolled. We provide them with a dossier full of useful information

Youth Exchange
-We have contacted other youth associations to offer them the possibility of having exchanges with other young Europeans. Thanks to the Youth Programme (action 1) we have had exchanges with Sweden, Italy, Stonia and The Netherlands. At present other local young people are being encouraged to take part in other exchanges.

Noticeboard with current news related to the Youth an Europe
- Each interesting piece of news for young people related to Europe is published in a noticeboard at the Youth Centre.

EVS
-We are only a sending organisation and we are already in contact with different partners: Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, Finland, Slovakia, Luxembourg, England, Greece, etc. but we are always looking for new partners.

- We received a lot of queries on this subject: a lot of young people are very interested
